TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Riverdale Therapy Online
Effective Date: September 24, 2026    |    Last Updated: September 24, 2026

Agreement
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to the Riverdale Therapy Online website and your use of our telehealth therapy services. By using the website, creating an account, scheduling a session, or receiving services, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site or services.

Nature of Services
We offer affordable online psychotherapy and related mental-health services delivered by video to clients physically located in New York State at the time of the session. Services are not a substitute for in-person care when in-person care is clinically required. Therapy is a collaborative process. We do not guarantee any particular outcome, diagnosis, or result. Recommendations are based on professional judgment and the information you provide.

Not for Emergencies or Crisis
Our services are not emergency services. If you are in danger, having thoughts of suicide or self-harm with intent, or experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, call 911, go to the nearest emergency room, or call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) immediately. Do not use email, the website contact form, or a scheduled video session as a way to reach us in a crisis. We may not see messages immediately.

Eligibility and Licensure
You must be at least 18 years old, or we must have valid consent from a parent or legal guardian and any other authorization required by New York law to treat a minor. Clinicians will provide services only to the extent they are licensed, permitted, or authorized to practice in New York.

You agree to accurately state your location at the start of each session. We may decline or end a session if we determine that telehealth is not clinically appropriate.

Telehealth Consent
By scheduling and attending a video session you consent to receive mental-health services by telehealth. You understand that:
Telehealth uses electronic communications (Zoom or similar web-based video) and involves privacy and technology risks, including possible interruption, poor connection, or unauthorized access despite reasonable safeguards; You are responsible for using a private space, headphones if needed, and a reasonably secure internet connection; Technical failures may occur; we will reschedule if a session cannot reasonably continue; Certain assessments or interventions may be less effective or unavailable by video.

Client Responsibilities
Provide accurate and complete information relevant to your care. Participate in treatment and keep scheduled appointments or cancel timely. Do not record sessions without prior written consent from the clinician. Do not share session links, portal credentials, or other clients’ information. Treat clinicians and staff respectfully. Harassment, threats, or abusive conduct may result in immediate termination of services.

Professional Relationship and Boundaries
The relationship is professional and limited to clinical services. Clinicians do not provide legal, financial, or medical (physician) advice. Dual relationships and social-media “friending” of current clients are not permitted. Reviews or testimonials, if requested, must comply with professional advertising rules and must not disclose another person’s PHI.

Records
We maintain clinical records as required by law and professional standards. Requests for records should be made in writing. We may deny access in limited circumstances permitted by HIPAA and New York law (for example, when access is reasonably likely to endanger life or physical safety), and we will explain the basis of any denial and appeal rights.

Website Use
The website is provided for general information and to facilitate scheduling and contact. Content on the site is not therapy, is not individualized advice, and does not create a clinician-client relationship by itself. That relationship begins only after intake, informed consent, and acceptance into care.
You may not scrape, copy for commercial use, reverse engineer, or interfere with the site. We may suspend access for misuse.

Intellectual Property
Website text, logos, worksheets we create, and related materials are owned by Riverdale Therapy Online or our licensors. You receive a limited, non-transferable license to use materials we give you for your personal treatment only. You may not republish them.

Third-Party Services
Video sessions may use Zoom or another web-based platform. Payment, scheduling, or messaging tools may be provided by third parties. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for outages or acts of those vendors beyond our reasonable control, except as required by law.

Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY NEW YORK LAW, RIVERDALE THERAPY ONLINE AND ITS CLINICIANS, OWNERS, AND STAFF ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, ARISING FROM THE WEBSITE OR FROM TECHNICAL FAILURES OF TELEHEALTH PLATFORMS. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF THE WEBSITE (AS DISTINCT FROM PROFESSIONAL MALPRACTICE CLAIMS, WHICH ARE GOVERNED BY APPLICABLE PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY LAW AND ARE NOT WAIVED BEYOND WHAT THE LAW ALLOWS) SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE THREE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be limited under New York law, including certain claims related to professional negligence.

Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Riverdale Therapy Online and its clinicians from claims arising out of your misuse of the website, your violation of these Terms, or your provision of false information, except to the extent caused by our negligence or willful misconduct.

Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Exclusive venue for disputes that are not subject to a mandatory professional or administrative process shall be the state or federal courts located in Bronx County or New York County, New York, unless the parties agree in writing to mediation or arbitration.

Professional licensing complaints may be directed to the applicable New York State Education Department office or other board that licenses the treating clinician.

Changes
We may update these Terms by posting a new version on the website and updating the date above. Material changes affecting existing clients will be communicated as required. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms for website use. Clinical informed-consent documents signed at intake control if they conflict with website Terms on a care-specific issue.

Severability and Entire Agreement
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. These Terms, the Privacy Policy, and any signed informed-consent or fee agreement constitute the entire agreement regarding website use and general service terms, and supersede prior informal statements.
